Current Situation of Refugees and Displaced Persons in Europe

In den letzten Jahren sind die Probleme geflüchteter und vertriebener Menschen, die sich auf dem Weg nach oder innerhalb Europas befinden, aus dem öffentlichen Fokus beinahe verschwunden. Die mediale Berichterstattung hat sich von der Situation auf der sogenannten „Balkanroute“ abgewandt, obwohl die Lage so fatal ist wie eh und je. Besonders während der momentanen Pandemie ist es wichtig, nicht die Gruppen zu vergessen, die sich bereits in einer prekären Lage befinden.

Deshalb haben wir verschiedene Aktivist*innen eingeladen, am 1. Juli um 18.15Uhr, online über die momentanen Umstände für Geflüchtete in Europa zu sprechen. Sie werden sowohl von ihrer Arbeit und Unterstützung vor Ort und ihren jeweiligen Organisationen berichten als auch was ansonsten noch benötigt wird und wie man vielleicht die aktuellen Probleme innerhalb Europas angehen könnte.

In recent years the public’s focus has drifted away from the struggles refugees and displaced persons face on their way to and through Europe. The mainstream media has moved on but the situation on the so called „Balkan Route“ is as dire as ever. Especially during the current pandemic it is important to not forget about the groups that are already in precarious circumstances.

So, on June 1st at 18.15h, several activists will join us online to talk about the current situation in Europe. They will tell us about the work and support they and/or their organisations provide as well as what more is needed and how to possibly solve issues displaced persons in within Europe are currently facing.
